My favorite movie for 2020 thus far. I went in thinking it was going to be like the comedic murder-mystery Knives Out, which I loved, but An Inspector Calls, is so much more. It's a British detective thriller set in 1912 that explores who's responsible for the suicide of a young lady. A talented police inspector responds to investigate at the mansion of a wealthy family. There are no shootings, car chases, vulgarity—just superb writing, tight dialogue, and excellent acting. This film will have you thinking well after it's over, and prompting you to ask yourself tough questions.
